The Accident

a)     How successful is the editing of framing/composition of the shots? Refer to specific shots and justify / deconstruct.
I think the editing and the composition was done well, as the video looked smooth. The shot of the accident happening I feel was done perfectly, we achieved this by using different camera angles.

b)    How successfully is editing? Refer to specific examples of cuts and explain how successfully (or not) the audience has been positioned.
The editing was done well, yet it could have been better. The first scene was not completely smooth. The last few scenes were edited well, they were edited to be quick scenes to give a thriller feel and to show something interesting is happening. The audience has a clear view of what is happening in every scene, we went by the ‘rule of thirds’ so the audience don’t get confused.

c)     How efficient was the shoot?
I think the shoot was 90% efficient. The actors and the cameraman did their best, we put our knowledge and our skill to practice and the results was good.

d)    In hindsight, what would you do differently at any of the stages (pre-production, production, post-production)?
I think I would do the planning differently, as our plan was not so detailed. I also would do shooting at different time, as when we were shooting students were passing by as it was break time.

Camera Techniques

This picture has nose room, this good so the person in this image does not look like he is falling out of the picture.  Nose room is the space between the edge of the frame and a person’s face when it is in profile.  In general, the space surrounding the subject should be 1/3 behind and 2/3 in front of the subject’s head.  I think this image is a very good example of nose room.
The rule of thirds has been used to take this image. The rule states that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines.

When photographing or filming people, it is common to line the body up with a vertical line, and having the person's eyes in line with a horizontal one.

I learnt how to use the lasso tool and i learnt how to modify the colour and the contrast. i also learnt how to redifine an image. I chose to make a poster on men in black three, this film has not been made and it is an idea.

Evaluation for Image Cropping

For this task I was given an image and I was told to crop it and create a two new images with their new brief stories. At class I squared off with a pencil on the picture showing what I wanted to crop. For my first image, I focussed on a woman on the floor and armed policemen circled around her, protecting her from reporters and their cameras and any other possible danger. For my second image, I focused on the armed policemen on the right, they look like they were trying to stop a riot, as one policeman has a dangerous looking gun. The purpose of this task was to learn how to crop an image using "Photoshop" on the Mac. I also learnt to analyse images more carefully.

Enemy of the State

The point of this sequence is to let the audience know briefly what this film might be about. The film has been edited to show different parts of the film to catch the audience's attention.

The first image on the document is a close-up shot, this close-up is very important as you clearly can see the card being inserted in to a device, which may have not been seen if it was a medium range shot as the audience could be distracted. This close-up shows the viewer how communication is being tracked.

The second image on the document is a medium shot, this shot was a good shot because the audience is able to see the the old white man's computers and other device, it is noticeable that the technology looks very advance. The image also shows that the old man is sitting and up to something while the black man behind him watches him, the audience wouldn't be able to see this if it was a close-up.
Enemy of the State

At 0:33 of the clip, there is a close-up of a television displaying a man on a news channel talking about freedom and if it should be limited as it is being misused by terrorist. The purpose of this shot was that  so the audience can see what is showing on the television clearly without distraction. At 0:39 there is a close-up of the black man, the purpose of this shot is so the audience can see him. From 0:41 to 0:47 there is a medium shot, this is useful as the audience get to see where these two characters are talking, we also get to see the woman's posture and expression. We then see the black man's expression and relaxed actions. The editing cut made between 0:40 and 0:41 is not smooth and very noticeable. I find that the editing of this sequence makes it fit in with the genre of the thriller, as suspence is present, also more is revealed to the audience about what is going on.

Mise-En-Scene

This is an over-the-shoulder shot of a young white man. He is standing and looking back at a man who looks like a security guard as he is wearing a uniform and a hat. In front the young white man there is another man wearing a suit and he is standing in strong posture with a serious expression. The young white man looks like he is up to something. He isn't moving, so he could have been stopped by the security guard as the young white man is looking at him. It looks like he is in a public building, but by looking at the background I can see a crowd of people not moving, they could have been looking at the young white man. Also there is a woman on the floor on the left of the image, so something could have happen to her. The background has been blurred so that the person looking at this image focuses on the two men.

Camera Work 1 Evaluation

For this task I had to work in a group, our task was to imitate a scene from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". Instead of taking a video we were told to take still images. All groups were given one camera and were told to go and take the images. When we were finished taking the images, we went to the media pad to make a video out of the images, to do this we used "Final Cut Express". The purpose of this task was to learn and identify the different camera angles, and i successfully was able to identify different angles such as "Close Up" and "Extreme Close Up". Another purpose of this task was to learn how to use the Mac to produce media.

If i had another chance to do this task again, i would have taken more images in a medium shot, to show the posture of the characters. Next time I will write out a detail plan, therefore important images won't be forgotten to be taken.
